Environmental news seems to be hit after hit lately. Global warning, pipeline spills, the constant arguments over what science is true, what is to be believed, and if we should even care. It takes a huge emotional toll. And sometimes it feels really hopeless.
But as I stand and hold harbingers of springtime in my hands, it is my choice to think about all the accomplishments we have made, to remember that the natural world is the essence of hope, and to acknowledge the ability in all of us to bring about change.
We have a long way to go in caring for this planet, longer every minute it seems. So, today of all days take a moment to stop and smell a flower, hug a tree, and reaffirm the idea of what it is that you stand for.
Happy Earth Day.
